Eighth in the Lone Star Conference

Overall Record: 152-126, 81-70 LSC
Pilgrim's eleventh season with A&M-Commerce would be his last, and his worst. The Lions would win just eight games, the fewest since 1944, and only one game in conference competition, the worst LSC finish in school history.
The season began rather normally with 7-5 mark in non-conference play, but the wheels flew off at the start of league play. The Lions would eventually lose their last 12 games, including blowout defeats against McMurry, A&M-Kingsville, Howard Payne, and Stephen F. Austin. Their closest loss came at the hands of Sam Houston State, a 66-60 heartbreaker near the end of the season. A&M-Commerce missed the playoffs for the tenth consecutive season.
A large part of the season's struggles were caused by the graduation of Jeff Fitch, who was a huge part of the Lion offense. Bill Gaines tried to transition to being the main focus of the offense, and would have been successful if he'd been able to play in the entire season. Sadly he played in just 13 of the 26 games in 1967, but still led the Lions in scoring with 326 points. Gaines set the record for scoring average in a season, 25.1 points per game. Fred Williams started in all 26 games, and still trai
led Gaines with just 280 points. Cleburne Brigham again led in rebounding with 185.
No Lions earned any individual awards in 1967.
