Head Coach: Joe Murphy (Fourth Season)
Overall Record: 27-28
TIAA
Murphy stayed on at A&M-Commerce for a record-setting fourth year, and the Lions were very grateful he did. Murphy and his squad finished 1927 with more wins than any previous squad, a 10-6 overall record. The Lions still couldn?t overcome TCU, losing their first two games of the season, but they proceeded to win the next four, doubleheaders against Austin College and Sam Houston State. North Texas brought the Lions back down to Earth with a 30-14 blowout, and West Texas conquered the Lions in a doublehea
der soon after. Thankfully A&M-Commerce got back up and finished the season with a 6-1 run, including victories over Sam Houston, Stephen F. Austin, McMurry, and North Texas. The outstanding string of subjugations earned a second place finish in the Texas Intercollegiate Athletic Association.
Overall: 10-6
