Head Coach: J.V. Sikes (Third Season)
Overall Record:26-31, 18-12 LSC
Tied for first in the Lone Star Conference
Sikes and his squad rebounded in 1933, providing Sikes with his first winning season as head coach of the Lions basketball team. The start of the year was a little rough, as Baylor took down A&M-Commerce 36-28 and Hardin-Simmons beat the Lions 29-25. Lion basketball quickly righted themselves though, smacking down Howard Payne 31-7. Four more wins followed the Howard Payne obliteration, including victories over Texas State, North Texas, Sam Houston State, and Trinity. A brief two-game losing streak interr
upted the winning streak, but another four-game winning streak quickly followed. Southeastern Oklahoma stole one of two from the Lions near the end of the season, but wins against Trinity and Howard Payne helped 1933 end in a positive fashion.
