Head Coach: S.J. Petty (Second Season)
Overall Record: 30-13, 12-4 LSC

First Team All-LSC
D.L. Connor

Second Team All-LSC
Merrell McKee
Cecil Pirkey

Petty's second season was also a success, though the Lions wouldn't successfully defend their LSC title. Early struggles left A&M-Commerce with a 1-3 record, but Petty and the Lions quickly turned it around with a three-game winning streak against Dallas Railway, Dallas Dr. Pepper, and the Hunt Oilers. SMU continued its undefeated streak against A&M-Commerce, though the Lions almost got away with a win, losing by just six points. Other notable results included a split of the season series between the Lion
s and West Texas A&M, a sweep of Texas State, and a 70-22 beat down of East Central.

D.L. Connor earned his third consecutive First Team All-LSC acclimation in 1936, and Merrell McKee Cecil Pirkey both snagged spots on the Second Team All-LSC.
