Head Coach: Dennis Vinzant (Second Season)
Overall Record: 30-15, 11-5 LSC
Tied for First Place in LSC

First Team All-LSC
J.P. Vinson

Vinzant's second season proved significantly more successful than his first. Though the Lions stumbled out of the gate with back-to-back losses to SMU, they rebounded quickly with wins over TCU (twice), Nebraska Teachers (twice), and New Mexico Teachers. Another win streak started soon after, including wins over North Texas, Howard Payne (twice), and Texas State. A&M-Commerce continued its conference dominance, taking down Stephen F. Austin, Texas State, and Sam Houston in their third winning streak of th
e season. The Lions' only conference loss in 1938 came in the second game against Stephen F. Austin, a 14-point blowout. West Texas A&M once again split the season series, taking the first game 45-35 before A&M-Commerce got revenge with a 44-38 victory later in the season. A victory against North Texas in their last game of the season secured a tie for First Place in the LSC, just the second LSC Men's Basketball Championship won by A&M-Commerce.

Despite all of their success as a team, only one Lion earned an individual award. J.P. Vinson was named to the 1938 First Team All-LSC, his second All-LSC veneration.
