Tied for second in the Lone Star Conference
Head Coach: Dennis Vinzant (eighth season)
Overall Record: 92-60, 39-26 LSC

World War II came to an end in 1945, but it still shortened the 1945-46 basketball season significantly. The Lions also had difficulties finding enough schools to play, and ended up having several games against hospitals, Air Force bases, and Naval bases. In fact, A&M-Commerce played the Naval Air Station four times in 1945. Coach Vinzant helped the Lions return to their winning ways in 1945, securing an 11-9 season with a 6-4 conference record. The season started off with Asburn General Hospital, and the
next five games were all against non-college opponents. Rice would sweep the Lions in their return to the college game, and then A&M-Commerce put together a seven-game win streak, including five conference victories. This win streak helped them secure a second-place tie in the Lone Star Conference.

No Lions earned any individual awards in 1945.
