Second Team All-LSC

Coach Vinzant passed on the reins to his assistant coach in 1946, making Darrell Tulley the eleventh head coach of A&M-Commerce Lion Basketball. Tulley's first season at the wheel was moderately successful, as he managed to lead the Lions to a 12-8 finish overall, and a 7-5 record in the LSC. Tulley's first game showed his inexperience, as he lost to the Dallas Dr. Pepper AAU squad 41-36. After that though something clicked, as he won his next four games. Dallas Dr. Pepper got the best of the Lions again
a few games later, as did SMU. A four-game LSC winning streak happened soon after, but a tough bracket of Texas State, Stephen F. Austin, and Houston left the Lions scrambling to figure out how to win again. Thankfully Sam Houston State was up next on the schedule, providing an opportunity for two quick wins. The season ended with a 1-2 record against North Texas and Houston, leaving the Lions tied for third in the LSC.

Tulley did accomplish something that hadn't been done since 1939. Jake Carter won a spot on the First Team All-LSC, and on the Second Team All-LSC was Bill Ingram.
