The 1960 squad had one of the worst seasons in Pilgrim?s tenure. The Lions won just 13 games overall, and finished with the university?s first losing season in conference play since 1942. The season started out well, A&M-Commerce winning 6 of their first 10 games. After that the Lions lost three in a row, but they balanced that with a four-game win streak that included victories over Austin College, Texas State, A&M-Kingsville, and Sam Houston State. The Lions concluded the season with three win and five
losses.
Bill Wayes led the Lions in scoring with 285 points, and in rebounds with 198.

No Lions earned any individual awards in 1960.
