Pilgrim's seventh season saw the Lions return to the top of the conference pile, winning 16 games overall and nine in conference play. The Lions secured their thirteenth LSC championship, and returned to the playoffs.

A&M-Commerce stumbled a little out of the gate, losing their first two games, but the next four games were all wins, setting up an 8-4 start that included victories over Nicholls State, Texas Wesleyan, Howard Payne, and Texas State. Wins and losses came after that, and then the Lions assembled a four-game streak of wins against A&M-Kingsville, Texas State, Sul Ross State, and Sam Houston State. Their only conference losses came against Sul Ross, A&M-Kingsville, and Stephen F. Austin. In the first round of
the NAIA District Playoffs A&M-Commerce took on St. Mary?s. Things looked great after the first game, a 65-59 win, but the Rattlers then dismantled the Lions in back-to-back games, sending them home.

Phil Andrews was the driving force of the offense with 396 points, and Whitney Miller led on defense with 295 boards. David McWright was also important for the Lions, scoring 289 points and snagging 108 boards.

Andrews and Miller made the First Team All-LSC, and McWright got named to the Second Team All-LSC.
