Gudger's squad impressed once again in 1975, wracking up a 19-6 finish with a school-record 13 wins in the Lone Star Conference. Despite this success, the Lions failed to win the LSC Championship, losing to Howard Payne in overtime.
The Lions shot out of the gate in 1975, winning their first three and eight of their first ten. They then proceeded to sweep through the LSC, losing only to Howard Payne and Stephen F. Austin. At one point A&M-Commerce managed to string together eight consecutive conference wins. The Lions headed to the LSC tournament with confidence, but got stung again by the Yellow Jackets, losing 72-69 in overtime.
Nate Granger took the scoring title from O'Neal Tarrant in 1975, outpacing him 469 to 430. Cabrera led in rebounds with 212 boards, though Granger wasn't far behind with 209. Assists were first regularly recorded in 1975, and Tarrant led in this category with 97.
Cabrera and Granger snagged First Team All-LSC nods, and Tarrant garnered an Honorable Mention spot.
