Sixth in the Lone Star Conference
Head Coach: Jerry Matthews (3rd Season)
Overall Record: 30-54, 16-16 LSC

LSC Freshman of the Year
Bennett Fields

A&M-Commerce had one of its worst seasons in school history, recording just four wins total and two wins in the LSC. The Lions lost 11 straight, and 12 of their first 13. Hope briefly appeared in the form of a three-game win streak over Dallas Baptist, Angelo State, and Eastern New Mexico, but then reality set in as the Lions lost their final 11 games, including their first round matchup in the LSC tournament.

Max Edwards and Bennett Fields tied for overall scoring leader (308 points), Sam Pyle led in rebounds (151) and blocked shot (11), Fields dished out the most assists (84), and Edwards led in steals (41).

Fields was the only Lion recognized individually. He won LSC Freshman of the Year in 1985.
