1999 was Coach Peak's last year as head coach of the Lions. His assistant coach Sam Walker would take over the following year. In his final season, Peak and the Lions regressed a bit, winning just 12 games and finishing 5-9 LSC play. Non-conference play was once again generous to the Lions, as they managed a 7-5 mark. Unfortunately the Lions really struggled to find any consistency, hitting peaks of four consecutive wins that would be followed by four consecutive losses, or winning two here and losing thr
ee there. The season ended with an overtime loss to West Texas A&M, and the Lions didn't get a chance to play in the LSC tournament.

Jermaine Thomas continued to be the scoring focus for Lions basketball, putting up an impressive 359 points in just 20 games. He also led the Lions in rebounds (203) and blocks (30). Brandon Manning once again led in assists, dishing out 194 assists. Manning also pickpocketed 49 times to lead A&M-Commerce in steals.

Thomas was given a First Team All-LSC nod despite playing in only 20 of the Lions' 26 games, and Manning earned his first Second Team All-LSC honor. Jeff Sabin was an All-Academic honoree, and Jay York was named to the LSC Commissioner's Honor Roll.
