The Lions won 16 games under Coach Walker's direction in 2005, marking the first time Walker had back-to-back winning seasons as head coach of A&M-Commerce Men's Basketball. The Lions performed well in non-conference play with a 10-5 record that included an eight-game win streak, but struggled to .500 against LSC competition. The Lions had four games go into overtime in 2005, and emerged with a 3-1 record in those situations. Unfortunately their experience with the game on the line didn't quite pay off; t
hey lost to Tarleton State in the first round of the LSC playoffs 71-70, ending their season at 16-12, 6-6 LSC.

Jermart Miller defended his Lion scoring title in 2005, putting up 415 points. He also led in three point shooting with 66 made. Lamar Searight was also a large part of the Lion offense, scoring 392 points while leading the Lions in assists (104) and steals (51). Chris Fantroy collected the most rebounds (166), and Nick Goellner blocked the most shots (26).

Fantroy, Miller, and Searight all were named to the Honorable Mention All-LSC team. Goellner was an All-LSC Academic team member.
