The Lions failed to finish above .500 again in 2012, finishing 14-15 (7-11 LSC). The season began well with a 7-3 non-conference run, but then the losses quickly started adding up once the LSC season began. At one point the Lions accumulated losing streaks of two, two, three, and four games, closing out the season with a loss in the first round of the LSC tournament to Midwestern State. One notable moment came out of the 2012 season: Coach Walker broke the record for most career wins at A&M-Commerce with
his 202nd win, surpassing Jim Gudger for most all time.

Preston Whitley led the team in points with 348. Andrew Davis pulled down 212 rebounds to lead that category, and Tyrie Wooten acted as the Lion quarterback by dishing out 104 assists. Kenny Brown's 15 blocks led in that category, and Wooten led in steals with 43.

Whitley was an Honorable Mention All-LSC, and Davis was the Academic Player of the Year for the second year in a row.
