LSC Semifinalists
Though it was the second year of soccer at A&M-Commerce, it was the first time in school history that the Lions would have the opportunity to compete for a Lone Star Conference Championship, this being the first year the LSC recognized women's soccer officially. Second-year Mike Munch got his squad to a 9-8-2 overall record, going 5-5 at home, 3-2-2 on the road, and 1-1 on neutral fields. Despite the Lions overall success on the season, they struggled in conference play with a 2-4-2 record against LSC opp
onents in the regular season. Their first LSC game in Lion history, a road affair with Angelo State, ended in a 0-0 draw. Three days later, the Lions picked up their first LSC win on the road against Northeastern State, defeating the River Hawks 3-2. A&M-Commerce would go on to once again defeat Northeastern State in the Lions' first LSC Tournament contest by a score of 2-1, before dropping 0-1 to West Texas A&M. Midwestern State would go on to win the LSC Championship.
Irene Yanez and Sherri Konlande were the lone athletes for the Lions to start all 19 games on the season, with Yanez leading the team with 1602 minutes played. Both Yanez and Trudy Warborg led the Lions with 15 points on 6 goals and 3 assists each, while Nicole Crittenden was the leading setup artist with 7 assists on the year (0.64 APG). Between the pipes, sophomore Catherine Cole once again led the way for the Lions, cobbling together 89 saves on 5.93 saves per game.
