First Season (13-6-0 Overall; 5-2-0 LSC)
LSC Semifinalists
Former assistant coach Neil Piper took over the reigns of the program this season, leading the Lions to a 13-6 record in his head coaching debut. The Lions were a menace at home, posting a 7-1 record at Lion Soccer Field. A&M-Commerce executed two severe blowouts on the road, handing Texas Lutheran a 8-0 thrashing before defeating conference foes Southwestern Oklahoma by a score of 9-1. The Lions would unfortunately be knocked out of the first round of the LSC Tournament by Midwestern State, the eventual
champions, by a score of 2-0.
Four Lions drew starts in every contest of the season that year: Sherri Konlande, Laurie Knapp, Laurie Donovan, and Catherine Cole. Offensively, Lynette Bass had a whale of a season with 15 goals and 15 assists (45 points) on 94 shots. In the game against Texas Lutheran, Lynette Bass smashed the LSC Record for most shots in a game with 17, a record that stood for years to come. Despite Bass' high magnitude, Konlande was stride for stride with her in the assists department, logging 15 of her own. Heather P
ierce and Stacy Carr were also vital contributors, logging nine and eight goals respectively. Senior Catherine Cole wrapped up her career with seven shutouts, 104 saves, a 0.93 GAA and a .852 save percentage on 1733 minutes of action.
