Head coach: Neil Piper 11th Season (140-64-20 Overall; 59-26-8 LSC) LSC Runner Up + NCAA Regional Finalists Following the first losing season in program-history in 2007, 11th year head coach Neil Piper rebounded his program in a big way. The Lions stormed through the regular season to compile a 13-2-3 record, a slate that included three blowout wins at A&M-International (9-0), at home against Southwestern Oklahome (8-0), and on the road again versus East Central (6-0). The Lions made the LSC Tournament, beating Midwestern State 3-0 in the semifinals to book a showdown in the finals with West Texas A&M, who unfo rtunately prevailed 1-0. Nonetheless, the performance was good enough to book a trip to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth time in school-history. The Lions opened up the tournament with a 1-0 win over Nebraska Omaha, and pulled off another shutout the next round with a 2-0 win over Central State. That booked the Lions a trip to the Sweet 16, where they at last dropped to Truman by a score of 2-1. They would finish the season with an overall record of 16-4-3. For the first time in school history, the Lions fielded a team that yielded multiple All-Americans, as goalkeeper Taylor Jordan captured NSCAA Second Team honors, while forward Meagan Lasley was named to the Third Team. It was the program's first All-Americans since 2004, when Tiffany Adams won the honor. Jordan won the veneration for compiling 102 saves and 8.5 shutouts for a 0.77 GAA and .872 save percentage in 1745 minutes. Lasley meanwhile led the Lions in all offensive categories (20g, 12a; 52p on 97 shots). Along with Lasley, six other Lions -Melissa DoRemus, Lacy Alexander, Sarah Reed, Alex Germain, Megan Monroe and Evan Stanberry- saw action in all 23 matches for the Lions on the season. Also of note, while Lasley was the chief offensive dynamo, teammate Chelsey Haight (10g, 4a; 24p) routinely came up big when it mattered most, hammering home a team-high six game winning goals.
