LSC Quarterfinalists
Neil Piper's 12th year at the helm of A&M-Commerce soccer saw the Lions reach a 10-8-1 overall record, going 5-5 in LSC competition. The Lions delivered two convincing drubbings over the course of the season (8-0 vs. A&M-International, 6-0 at Harding), and eventually found themselves in the LSC Tournament. For the third time in four years, the Lions ran into the Pioneers in the opening round, and for the third time in four years, regulation and overtime was not enough to settle the matter as things progre
ssed to penalty kicks. Alas, it was TWU that won the rubber match to advance. Central Oklahoma would go on to take their fifth LSC Championship, the last one they'd receive before exiting the Lone Star Conference after the 2010 season.
Devon Herrman and Megan Monroe were the only players to see action in all 19 games of the Lions' campaign. Meagan Lasley (15g, 6a; 36p) was the most prolific offensive weapon for the Lions, while Chelsea Haight (8g, 4a; 20p) also factored in. Taylor Jordan was once again the alpha dog in net, collecting 76 saves and 5 shutouts for a 1.07 GAA and .844 save percentage in 1178 minutes.
