Head coach Neil Piper 17th Season (198-111-30 Overall; 90-58-14 LSC) LSC Regular Season Champions + LSC Tournament Champions NCAA Sweet 16 To follow up 2013's NCAA Tournament appearance, 17th year head coach Neil Piper led his team to one of the best seasons in school history. The Lions went 13-5 through the regular season and 7-3 in conference play. Their regular season included a 2-0 win over West Florida, who was then the No. 2 ranked team in the country. At 7-3 in conference, the Lions won the LSC Regular Season Championship, allowing them to host the conference tournament. They started off with a 2-1 win over Midwestern State, leading t hem to a championship showdown with Angelo State, which they won 3-2 to secure the LSC Tournament title as well. Their strong play over the course of the year afforded them the No. 2 seed in the South Central Region, allowing them to host the first round of the LSC Tournament. That led to a rematch with Angelo State, that they won again by a score of 1-0. The win propelled them to the Sweet 16, meaning they traveled to Golden, Colorado to face the Colorado School of Mines Orediggers. After playing to a 1- 1 tie through regulation and overtime, the Orediggers at last prevailed in PKs 4-2. Savannah Grasser (13g, 7a; 33p) was named an NSCAA Second Team All-American, becoming the fourth All-American in program history and the first since 2008. She was one of three Lions along with Jade Bell and Ashley Phillips to get starts in all 22 of the Lions contests over the course of the year. Bell was nearly Grasser's equal on the offensive end, garnering 10 goals and 8 points (28 points) of her own. In net, junior transfer Courtnie Northern had a strong campaign, grabbing 104 saves and 8 shutouts for a 0.73 GAA and .874 save percentage in 1854 minutes.
