Toni Skipalis (formerly Granberry)
Larry Blackwell took over for Terri Johnson in 1996, and his first season was by far his worst. The Lions finished just 7-27 (5-13 LSC), the worst record for any Lion volleyball team in the history of the program. The Lions did manage to take down West Texas A&M, the eventual LSC champions, but there weren't many other bright spots in a season that included losing streaks of three, four, six, and nine games. A&M-Commerce didn't even make an appearance in the LSC tournament.
Wendy Adams led the charge on offense, setting the pace with 389 kills. Kirsten Bush had 325 kills, finishing second. Toni Skipalis (formerly Granberry) had 940 assists, and Whitney Daniel and Heather Rose tied for second with 115 assists. Lisa Wilson had the most digs for A&M-Commerce with 399, and Adams had 383. Bush (126) and Skipalis (98) had the most total blocks.
Adams earned her first All-LSC nod with a spot on the Honorable Mention team, and Skipalis garnered her second Honorable mention and Academic Honorable mention.
