Coach Blackwell's final season was one of his finest. He guided the Lions to a 23-14 record (7-3 LSC), and coached Sara Wedberg, Chantae Weathers, and Amy Wallace to new heights. A&M-Commerce blazed through the early part of their schedule, sweeping the Jo Kuhn Labor Day tournament and winning their first seven games. A four-game losing streak knocked the Lions off course briefly, but they quickly righted the ship a few days later and won their next four. The Lions would make it to the second round of the
LSC tournament for the first time in three years, where they would lose a tough match to West Texas A&M.
Weathers set a new school record for kills in a season with 613, and Wallace finished just behind with 488. Shannon Robbins paced the team in assists with 1,196. Wedberg earned recognition as the LSC Defensive Player of the Year with 481 digs, and Wallace and Weathers were impassable at the net with 131 and 142 total blocks respectively.
As noted earlier, Wedberg earned LSC acclaim as the conference's Defensive Player of the Year, and also garnered a nomination on the Honorable Mention All-LSC list. Wallace and Weathers were both named First Team All-LSC, and Davina Goodman also snagged a spot on the Honorable Mention list. Wallace was named to the All-Academic team, and Jana Gray, Kayla Hanzelka, & Ashleigh Schwab warranted spots on the LSC Commissioner's Honor Roll.
