The sophomore slumps struck Lion Volleyball yet again in 2004, Coach Weatherford's second season at the helm. The Lions began the season with a 10 game losing streak, and would go on to tie Coach Blackwell's 1997 squad for fewest wins in a season. A&M-Commerce finished 7-23 (3-7 LSC), and the season could have been much worse if Weatherford's squad hadn't managed to win three tough games against LSC opponents near the end of the season. The Lions' season ended on November 6 in a loss at Midwestern State.
Despite their team struggles, several Lions put together impressive individual stats. Colleen Favaro had 418 kills, pacing the Lions on offense, and Jackie Orr led in assists with 1,128. Kayla Hanzelka had 315 digs, and Chasalan Roberts had 96 total blocks.
Only two Lions garnered any conference recognition in 2004. Favaro snagged a spot on the Second Team All-LSC, and Hanzelka was named to the All-Academic team.
