Head Coach: Gwen Weatherford (Third Season)
Overall Record:32-58
LSC Record:9-22
Second Team All-LSC
Colleen Favaro
Honorable Mention All-LSC
Jane Latu
LSC Commissioner's Honor Roll
Colleen Favaro
2005 went significantly better for Coach Weatherford. The Lions won their first two games, tournament appearances against Angelo State and Colorado-Colorado Springs, and then barely lost in four sets to Colorado State-Pueblo. They would later take down Colorado Christian, Fort Lewis, and Henderson State, but the wheels would start to come off after that. A seven-game losing streak followed, including tough losses to Southeastern Oklahoma and Texas Woman's. A&M-Commerce rebounded a little at the start of O
ctober with a win over Midwestern State, but, and they would also assemble a three-game win streak over Angelo State, Eastern New Mexico, and Tarleton State. Sadly, another losing streak came near the end of the season, knocking the Lions out of LSC playoff contention. Though 2005 concluded with a win over Cameron, the win did little to alter the fact that the Lions had missed the playoffs for the third straight season.
Jane Latu led the Lions in kills in her first season, hitting 385 kills in just 107 games. Alicia Capparelli was the quarterback in 2005, assisting on 1,029 points. Jackie Orr switched to a more defensive focus in her second season with A&M-Commerce, leading in digs with 396. Colleen Favaro continued to impress at both sides of the net, leading in total blocks (77), and finishing second in kills (344).
Favaro earned Second Team All-LSC honors in 2005, her second consecutive veneration. Latu was named an Honorable Mention All-LSC, and Favaro also garnered academic acclaim with a spot on the LSC Commissioner's Honor Roll.
