Mark Pryor started his tenure at A&M-Commerce in 2008, and quickly helped the Lions to their first winning record in six seasons. 2008 concluded with a 15-12 record (7-6 LSC). Lion Volleyball had a 9-6 record through September, including an impressive 3-1 showing at the Harding tournament in Searcy, Arkansas. A 2-0 Oklahoma road trip kicked off October, and then the Lions briefly stumbled against Tarleton State before winning their next four. Despite the regular season ending with back-to-back losses at h
ome, the Lions still managed to make it into the LSC tournament for the first time since 2002. Regrettably, the season ended in the first round after Tarleton State knocked them out in three sets.
Pryor's coaching style is evident in the stats his girls compiled. Three different Lions had over 200 kills, including Alyssa Oberle, who led with 287. Perla Faudoa had 948 assists, and Lauren Flynn led in digs once again with 579. Though this was the fewest digs Flynn would have in any season, she also compiled these digs in just 100 games, an impressive 5.79 average.
Flynn split LSC Libero of the Year honors with Sara Contreras (West Texas A&M), and also collected Second Team All-LSC honors and a spot on the LSC Commissioner's Honor Roll. Faudoa and Morgan Ballard join Flynn on the Second Team All-LSC, and Rachel Lance, Amy Addison, and Terra Ousley also made the Commissioner's Honor Roll.
