With long-time head coach Susie Knause parting ways with the program, the Lions shifted to the command of former ETSU player Kelly Breazeale. East Texas State kicked off the season with their most dominant win of the season, a 72-46 triumph over Austin College. The Lions finished the season 9-15 overall and 4-6 against LSC opponents. For the fourth consecutive year, ETSU fell in the first round (78-64 to ENMU), and also for the fourth consecutive year, Abilene Christian would grab the LSC title.
