ETSU got off to a 3-3 start to the season, which would be indicative of how the rest of their season would ultimately turn out. The Lions finished the regular season with a 8-6 record against LSC competition, and drew Central Oklahoma in the first round of the tournament. East Texas State prevailed by a score of 68-63, earning them a matchup with hosts West Texas A&M. The Lady Buffs emerged victorious 88-61 and went on to win the LSC Championship.

With the departure of Andrea Hines, Michelle Simmons stepped up to take care of the scoring load, emerging as the only player to average double-digit scoring with 18.6 points per game and also led the Lions in rebounding with 7.9 rpg. Cathy DeSalvo had the most steals on the squad with 58, while Jennifer Lacy was the team's top shot-blocker with 38. Tina Eudy rounded things out as the team's top passer with 118 assists.
