Head coach: Charles Mancil (Fifth Season) - 38-92 Overall; 29-47 LSC
Following a solid 00/01 campaign, A&M-Commerce experienced a tougher time in 01/02. After starting the season 3-6, the Lions dropped nine of their next ten games en route to a 7-18 overall record, notably going 0-13 on the road. With a 5-9 record against conference opponents, the Lions missed the LSC Tournament. Angelo State would go on to claim their second LSC Championship in program history.
Summer Sparnon would claim First Team All-LSC honors, averaging 15.5 points per game. Amy Putman was the second-leading scorer with 13.5 points per game while leading the team in rebounds with 8.4 per game. Melissa Grayson was the top passer (90 assists) and pass disruptor (43 steals) on the team, while Summer Wafford was also involved, averaging double-digit scoring.
The 01/02 season would be the last of head coach Charles Mancil's A&M-Commerce career. At the end of his time with the Lions, Mancil walked away with an overall record of 38-92, going 29-47 against LSC opponents.
