Head Coach: Denny Downing (Seventh Season) - 106-99 Overall; 47-45 LSC
3rd in North

For the third year in a row, the Lions pulled off a winning season with an overall record of 18-11. A&M-Commerce won seven of its first nine games, and when conference play came about in the second half of the season, the Lions went 9-5 against LSC opponents. In the LSC Tournament, the Lions drew Abilene Christian in the opening round, making up for the previous year by winning 76-74. In the second round against Central Oklahoma though, A&M-Commerce unfortunately fell 100-86. West Texas A&M would claim th
eir second consecutive conference championship.

Britney Jordan had a sensational year for the Lions, averaging a jaw dropping 31.3 points per game while logging a team-high 156 assists and 71 steals. The terrific numbers Jordan put up led to not one, but two All-American nods on the year. Nola Taylor had a strong season in her own right, averaging a double-double with 13.2 points and 10.4 rebounds per game, while also leading the Lions in blocks with 23.

Jordan would go on to hear her name called at the WNBA Draft, with the LA Sparks drafting her 35th overall in the third round. With the departure of his star player, head coach Denny Downing moved on from the program, finishing his stint in Commerce with a 106-99 overall record, going 47-45 against LSC opponents. He was the only head coach in program-history to leave with a winning record.
