Head Coach: Jason Burton (First Year); 14-14 Overall, 7-9 in LSC
Sixth in LSC

With Nicole Anderson vacating the head-coaching spot, former A&M-Commerce men's assistant coach Jason Burton stepped up to lead the Lions, seeing immediate improvement from his squad. A&M-Commerce got off to a fast 4-2 start to the season, and after dropping three in a row, responded by winning five of their next six. The Lions finished the regular season with a 7-9 record against LSC opponents, and entered the LSC Tournament as the sixth seed, drawing third seeded Cameron in the opening round. The Lions
managed to clamp down on the three-point shooting from the Aggies, stunning the ladies from Lawton in a 80-65 triumph. The Lions would eventually fall 65-60 to Midwestern State in the semi-finals, and West Texas A&M would once again take both the regular season and tournament championships. The Lions meanwhile finished with an overall record of 14-14, just the sixth time A&M-Commerce had finished .500 or better since the Lone Star Conference began sponsoring the sport in 1982. Coach Burton would log the m
ost successful debut season for a Lions coach since Susie Knause got the Lions to 10-6 in the inaugural 71/72 season.

Freshman Princess Davis got both national and conference recognition by becoming the LSC Freshman of the Year and a member of the WDIIB All-Freshman team, thanks to her 117 assist campaign. Gabby Scott was the team's leading scorer with 10.3 points per game, while senior La'Tisha Hearne led the Lions with 7.3 rebounds per contest. Abigail Leaupepe-Tele led the team in blocks with 25, and senior Ashlee Johnson rounded things out by leading the Lions with 42 steals and becoming the first player in school-hi
story to make the LSC All-Defensive Team.
