Head Coach: Jason Burton FourthYear); 68-48 Overall, 43-29 in LSC
Third in LSC

The 2017-18 season for the Lions had the Lions finish in third place in the LSC standings, their highest finish ever under coach Burton. After a back-and-forth start to the season that had the Lions begin 4-4, the Lions found their groove entering the LSC season. After spliting their first conference series, the Lions went on to win nine LSC games in a row, setting a program record. Included in that streak was a win over West Texas A&M, the Lions' first win against WT in Canyon in 13 years. A&M-Commerce h
ad an 8-game win streak, their second longest ever and even defeated DI UT-San Antonio, their first win over a DI opponent since 2009. After starting the LSC season with a program-best mark of 10-1, struggles down the stretch had the Lions finish the season 3-6 in conference. Still, they finished in third place in the LSC standings. They drew Cameron in the first round of the LSC Tournament and won in overtime before falling in the semifinal round to WT. The Lions narrowly missed the NCAA Postseason.
